Annual Fall Cleanup at Wilderness Island!

Details
We've set our location for this year's cleanup- Wilderness Island, an area that always gets a lot of stormwater-driven trash.
We're hosting our cleanup on a Sunday this year because our cleanup will be on Wildlife Resources Commission land. Hunting is allowed there every day except Sundays in the fall, so the location is perfect for a Sunday cleanup.
WHERE TO MEET
The location is the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission Game Land Access reached by short gravel road off the end of Seaforth Rd., near US 64 in Pittsboro. Here is map link.
For GPS, use 2999 Seaforth Rd, Pittsboro. that gets you to the turn onto gravel road.
NOTE: THE LOCATION IS NOT THE SEAFORTH ACCESS TO JORDAN LAKE STATE PARK!
ASSIGNMENTS
WALKERS: You will be divided into five groups at registration.
BOATERS: Boaters are needed to ferry some volunteers to the far end of the cleanup route and help to haul trash back to the dumpster at the Corps Bulkhead. Boaters only wishing to ferry volunteers are welcome. Launch from Poe's Ridge Boat Ramps off Jordan Dam Rd., 1.5 miles from cleanup.
We're loaning 2-way radios to boaters for communication.

WHAT OUR VOLUNTEERS HAVE ACCOMPLISHED
Since 2009, 730 cleanup events have attracted 9,300 volunteers to our cause. Beauty and wildlife habitats have been restored along 30 miles of the worst impacted shoreline. About 20,000 bags of trash (roughly 200 tons!) have been removed. Many other objects are too large to fit into trash bags such as basketballs, propane gas tanks, hot water heaters, car parts, pesticide sprayers, gasoline cans, and pails of industrial adhesives. In addition, volunteers have rolled 4,900 tires, many still on rims, to boats and off again at boat ramps to stack for pick up by Bridgestone Americas Tires 4Ward Program.
