About us
Hemel Social is a friendly social & friendship group who welcomes all. Maybe you're new to the area, kids have flown the nest, had a change in circumstances or you just want to get out more, try new things or places & make some more friends. Join us if you want to meet new people, socialise, make new friends, have fun & try new things.
Don't be shy take the plunge & you'll soon make friends & have an improved & active social life. We hold multiple events every week.
Social activities could include meeting for coffee, drinks, eating out, pub nights, live music, dancing, theme nights, cinema, theatre, comedy, arts & crafts, day trips, race days, bowling, quiz nights, games, book club, walks, picnics, afternoon tea, escape rooms, disc/footgolf, bike rides, skating, trampolining, snowboarding or any other sports & leisure activities, museums, galleries, day trips, charity events and much more. Events can be daytime, evening, midweek or weekends in the local area or beyond. Members are also encouraged to host events. The more event hosts we have the more events there will be for you to attend. You don't have to host loads of events just once or twice a year would help. Contact one of the organisers if you are interested & want help with this.

The pub has a car park at the rear of the pub which you access via Anchor Lane. Please remember to enter your registration details on the console in the pub so you don't get a ticket! There is limited parking on St John's Road, some is free - some there are restrictions. There is also a car park on Cowper Road which is a few minutes walk away.

The pub is also in walking distance from Hemel Hempstead train station. And approximately 7-10 minutes from Station Road or 20 minutes walk from the town center where the buses stop at Marlowes or Riverside.
๐จ Hotel Accommodation
For those that would like to enjoy the night & not have to worry about driving there is Premier Inn Hemel Hempstead Central within walking distance which is very reasonably priced. It's approximately 15/20 minutes walk or stagger as the case may be!
There is also a Travelodge in the town center on Wolsey Road, behind the Marlowes Shopping Center which is approximately 20/25 minutes walk from the pub & about 5 minutes further on from the Premier Inn.

Mid-week Quiz & Social @ Steamcoach - Boxmoor
The Steamcoach, 86 St John's Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 1NP, GBEveryone is welcome & you don't have to be good at quizzes to attend. Enjoy a fun & social quiz evening. Maximum of 6 per team, so we will split into teams depending on numbers on the night. Cost is ยฃ2 per person, please bring cash with you. Cash prizes. The bottom bar area has been reserved for us from 8:00pm, if anyone fancies having dinner or drinks & a chat before the quiz. You can view the menu online to see what is on offer.
The quiz starts at around 8:15 & finishes at approximately 10:30.

It is a friendly, pretty village โ Real Ale & Craft Beer pub (with REAL home-cooked fodder... Yummy) overlooking the picturesque Boxmoor common cricket pitch. The pub has been in operation since the 1800's providing refuge for weary travellers. They pride themselves on impeccable service, familiarity, comfort and focus on the pleasure of eating and drinking.
