Your chance to try Lawn Bowls at an open day for Hemel Social members.
Details
I have arranged a taster session at Bovingdon Bowls club on April 26th at 2.30pm for those who would like to try this sport or have played before and simply want to improve. I confess that despite living in Bovingdon for some time and knowing people that play at the club, including the men’s captain, I have never played there. So I am looking forward to trying it. The club is well established and has been going since 1952.
Lawn Bowls, for those that haven’t played, is relatively simple to start playing. It is clearly something that needs practice to improve technique. It has been growing in popularity.
This event is part of a general open day, but I have agreed with the captain to make the time allocated exclusive to “Meet Up” members in this group.
You don’t need to bring anything. All you need is a pair of trainers or soft flat soled shoes. There will be a nominal cost of £1 per person for Meet Up. There is a well stocked, cheap bar where you can buy refreshments. The bowls is outdoors, but the bowling green is an all weather surface, so unless weather is severe rain the event won’t be cancelled. It will be better if we can all start at the same time, so please get there at least 5 mins beforehand.
The Bowls is next to the Memorial Hall which is in the heart\lower half of the high street just below the shops if you are heading down the high street and on the left hand side as you go down the high street. You should be able to park either at the memorial hall or on the surrounding streets.
Tedious disclaimer - in attending you agree your safety is your own responsibility and that the Organiser, Co-Hosts, Event Hosts, or other participants of Hemel Social are not responsible or liable for the safety of any attendee, or any attendee’s guests.
