Your host

Richard Mills, BA, PGDIM, BSc, LGSMD BACP Senior Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist
I've been going to Here-and-Now groups since 1992 and I love them! I've learned so much about myself, especially what holds me back and what gives me joy.
I host a monthly H+N group in my therapy room in Leeds, UK.
Since the Lockdown in the UK on 23rd March 2020 I have been running group meetings online (via Zoom).
They have all been well worth the effort and I am heartened by the value that I and others get from them.

During the group
+++ +++
The invitation is to stay in the here-and-now, to stay present.
Here’s my advice: in each moment, notice your current:
• Wishes
• Needs
• Feelings
Share these with the group, if you like.
Try to avoid doing the following:
• When you are NOT charged, describing aspects of your personality, or things in your 'there and then' (e.g. job, relationships).
• At the end of each meeting there is no debrief, or checkout, so it's up to you to say anything you want within the meeting time.
This group space
+++ +++
This group space offers the prospect of interpersonal meeting and process: encounter with others invariably invokes all kinds of feelings inside the self, and this space offers the chance to experience and reflect on these. The group is not structured, except for the start and end times: the unfolding of the group will be unpredictable and will offer the opportunity for unexpected dialogue and experience.
All you have to do is bring your own real, beautiful and flawed self, and come with curiosity about what we might co-create.
My Role as co-participant
+++ +++
I will pay attention to my endeavour to stay present and in contact with myself and others. My experience in this type of leader-less peer group is that the interactions between people inevitably facilitate the process.
Requests from me
+++ +++
- Confidentiality: After the group, please don’t talk about what other people said or did in such a way that they can be identified.
- Drugs: Please do not arrive whilst under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs.
