Meet Amazing Data Women

Details

This group is for women who work with and love data. Our goal is to bring together women who work in data or who would like work in data - to support one another, share experiences and talk data - big or small! Whether you’re a student just embarking on a career or a seasoned data professional, this group is for you. We want to connect and inspire amazing data women with diverse expertise and experience.

At this event, we’ll have more great talks from female data analysts, scientists and researchers so come along, ask questions and meet other women who love data!

Agenda:

• 18:30- 19:00 Networking with pizza & drinks
• 19:00- 20:00 Lightning talks from our women in data speakers and Q&A
• 20:00- 21:00 Networking & wrap-up

Speakers:

• Bethan Turner (https://twitter.com/HoneycombBethan), is Head of Data Insights at Honeycomb Analytics. With a background in Maths and Stats, she started (and abandoned) a PhD after being told she was “too real-world minded”. Since then, she has used her analysis skills to understand what people think, and why they do what they do, in the real world. She has always worked in analysis in market research, but has recently set up a data science agency which focuses on bridging the gap between research and analytics.

• Tana Joseph (https://www.linkedin.com/in/tanadjoseph/) is a Newton International Fellow at the Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics, University of Manchester. She looks at dead stars using X-ray and radio observations. She prefers to handle her observation data sets herself and is downright nervous about the new era of astronomy where she won’t be able to do that anymore.

• Szu-Yao Chien (https://www.linkedin.com/in/szu-yao-chien/), NLP Data Scientist at Hello Soda. Szu-Yao has a background in Marketing Analytics and Data Science. Recently, she obtained her PhD at the University of Manchester. Her thesis was focused on applying natural language processing and machine learning techniques to investigate customer insights within social-media Big Data. She joined Hello Soda as a Data Scientist in January, 2018. She has been working on several super exciting projects in the company, such as multi-lingual customer insight modelling.
