HER+Data MCR is a community working to connect, inspire, support and empower the NW UK’s Women in Data. Our goal is to bring together women and non-binary people who work in data or who would like to work in data - to support one another, share experiences and talk data - big or small! Whether you’re a student just embarking on a career or a seasoned data professional, this group is for you. We want to connect and inspire amazing data women with diverse expertise and experience.
The event is very generously hosted by KrakenFlex, part of Octopus Energy Group, who are providing the venue, food and drinks. The event will take place at their Manchester offices on the 13th floor at No 2 Circle Square, 1 Symphony Park, Manchester, M1 7FS (Google maps: https://goo.gl/maps/xAXpijcSGHas7CYw7). Title: Using Quantitative Methods to Research Marginalised Communities
Abstract: How statistical analysis can represent marginalised communities to better serve their needs. Drawing on her degree research projects investigating anti migration sentiments in Britain and sex working practices in the UK. The talk will detail how embracing difficult and potentially sensitive topics may be beneficial for wider society. (LinkedIn)

Title: Evolution in Tech: From Python Novice to Confident Coder
Abstract: A snapshot into my professional journey in the energy sector. Starting with basic Python and MATLAB skills to now; confidently using Python daily, having obtained my AWS Cloud Practitioner Certificate, and completed a secondment in a full-time development team where I learnt TypeScript and JavaScript in situ.
