About us
Why not try meditation?
Learn to experience more awareness, loving kindness and joy.
We are a very friendly bunch of people, and we always make newcomers very welcome.
You don't need to be a Buddhist, or know anything about it, or have to "believe" anything.
You will be given full instruction.
We are part of the Triratna Buddhist Community.
We teach mindfulness meditation, and also loving kindness meditation, and we usually have a talk or discussion as well.

Learn to meditate with us - No charge - No Commitment - Beginners Very Welcome
Millbridge Rooms,, Maidenhead Yard, Hertford SG14 1PT, GBDiscover Meditation. Find Your People. Change Your Life.
What if one Tuesday evening changed everything?
At the Hertford Buddhist Group, we come together to learn and practise meditation — and to build something rarer than that: a genuine community of people who care about living with more meaning, depth, kindness, and connection.
You don't need to be a Buddhist. You don't need to know anything at all. You just need to be curious.
What to expect: A warm welcome, full meditation instruction for beginners, rich discussion, a tea break, and the kind of conversation you rarely get anywhere else. We meet every Tuesday, 7.30pm–9.30pm at the Millbridge Rooms (opposite Hertford Theatre). Please arrive between 7.00 and 7.15pm.
There is no charge. Ever. You are able to give a donation to help cover our cost if you want to.
Each session has its own flavour — sometimes more meditation-focused, sometimes more discussion-based, sometimes led by different voices in our community. We like variety. We like depth. We like people who ask big questions.
We typically welcome 20–30 people each week — Meetup RSVPs don't tell the whole story, so don't let a low number put you off. Just come.

Meditation Day Retreat - Beginners Welcome
Location not specified yetJune Meditation Day Retreat – Awareness is Revolutionary
Free of charge – suitable for all
Sunday 14th June, 10am-4pm
Led by Samudraghosha & Amber
Meditation is a path of inner transformation centred on two powerful qualities: awareness and kindness. By cultivating these, we begin to meet our experience more fully, moment by moment, learning to be with ourselves just as we are. In this way, awareness becomes something genuinely radical — a quiet but profound shift away from habitual reactivity towards clarity, kindness, and greater freedom. This day retreat offers an opportunity to explore how meditation can be a truly radical practice in everyday life.
We’ll be doing periods of meditation and related practices based on the Mindfulness of Breathing and the Metta Bhavana (the cultivation of loving-kindness), along with teaching, and time to reflect in pairs or small groups. There will also be space for questions and shared exploration throughout the day.
The day is open to all adults, regardless of previous experience. Please bring food to share for a vegetarian/vegan lunch. Teas and coffee provided.
There is no charge (donations on the day will be welcome).
Please book by emailing hertsbuddhistmeditation@gmail.com. The booking deadline is 12pm on Saturday 13th June.2 attendees
