The Hexagon UX DC Chapter was created in 2020 to empower and support women and non-binary folks in the tech community. Our goal is to provide safe spaces that continually fosters growth and connection whether online or in-person.

Our events in 2021:

Workshops & Panel Discussions: Insights, trends, and best practices as industry professionals share their experiences in design. Second Wednesday Bimonthly (April, July, October).

UX Book Club: Book discussions to share insights and foster growth in the community, featuring the author whenever possible. Second Thursday Bimonthly (March, May, September, November).

UX Social: An informal monthly social meetup for inclusive free-form conversations to build real connections in the community. Fourth Tuesday Monthly (February to October).

Digital Accessibility Program: Strategy, Process, Governance, and Adoption

Event Description

Directing organizational digital accessibility strategy and program is a multifaceted process. It requires dedicated efforts across all enterprise business areas. In this workshop, we’ll share the techniques that will help you build and scale an impactful digital accessibility program, tools and shields.

We’ll discuss inclusive design & research, training & talent development, accessibility standards, governance, procurement, testing & maintenance, and other important pillars of a successful digital accessibility strategy.

Our panelists, Olya Kenney & Virginia Pollock, are passionate and dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of accessible & inclusive digital environments across all industries to empower and create equitable experiences for all. They are excited to provide mentorship, guidance, and resources while welcoming questions and collaboration!

About Olya Kenney

Olya is a dedicated Accessibility leader with a track record of success in establishing and actively guiding enterprise digital accessibility strategy. She has 12+ years of in-depth experience advocating for accessibility, developing and maintaining accessibility standards & processes across all business areas, and teaching/mentoring to expand organizational accessibility maturity. Olya’s leadership work resulting in pioneering accessibility innovations was highlighted in Inc Magazine, HR Today, and Innovation By All research with her visionary work shared internationally by Fortune Great Place to Work. Olya is currently the Principal Digital Accessibility Strategist working with an amazing team at Rocket Companies (RKT). She has successfully held positions as a Senior Digital Accessibility Manager, Creative Director, and Accessibility SME driving transformational changes in multiple industries. Olya is passionate about building disability-friendly human-centered digital experiences rooted in empathy to empower people through inclusive environments & products that provide equitable access for all!


About Virginia Pollock

Virginia is a UX Researcher at Vector Solutions and former Accessibility Analyst at Rocket Mortgage. They are a firm believer in the power of inclusive design, viewing accessibility as a necessary and critical part of every business function. As a designer and researcher with accessibility expertise, Virginia strives to create awareness about best practices for creating accessible digital products.
