Tsanguanliao Ancient Trail 燦光療古道
Details
Let's enjoy a full day of exercise! Phoebe will guide us on this nice, hopefully sunny, pre-winter day hike on the Tsanguanliao Ancient Trail.
We will meet at Ruifang Train Station at 9.15am. (local train 4154 leaving from Taipei Main at 08:15! If you take another station; check the departure details online please). We gather at Ruifang and from here directly walk to the bus which takes us to the start of the trail. The bus is not frequent, so make sure to be on time! We can't wait for late comers.
The hiking trail itself will be approx. 14-17km (depending on bus). We expect the hike to take us about 6-7 hours, but be flexible as it all depends on the day.
The trail is not too difficult for regulars but it's long and has an elevation change of about 600m., so for new hikers very challenging! The trail offers beautiful surrounding and views, ruins and temples. The weather should be good but best to bring some gloves or a hiking stick just in case of slippery parts. We will finish the hike at Mudan where we can eat something and/or jump on the train back to the city.
Note this is a hike, not a walk! Make sure you are experienced and trained enough for this physically, so you can keep up with the group.
Important:
- Wear appropriate clothes and shoes for hiking in (unpredictable and sometimes extreme)Taiwan weather.
- Bring enough water (recommended 2L) and food for hiking for a few hours. There's no shops on the trail (toilets unknown).
- This hike is organized by volunteers. You yourself are the only one responsible for your physical and mental wellbeing. Never leave the group without informing others and be careful and responsible at all times.
- Be friendly, willing to meet new people and make everyone feel welcome.
- Be flexible if the exact route or anything changes in case of unforeseen circumstances. Go with the flow. :)
- Signing up = showing up on time. Waiting list? Join us next time!
- This event is free. Leaving us a small tip for time and effort is appreciated.
- Google the trail and do your own research beforehand if needed.
