Hiking Gouyinqin Old Trail

Let's enjoy a full day of exercise! Martin will guide us on this nice trail, close to the city.

Let's meet up at 10:00 at the 7/11 opposite the National Palace museum.
When we meet we'll have a quick look around the nearby park first to see the red autumn leaves, and then start to hike the area of the Pingding canals. The trail is mostly beside the ancient irrigation canals and fairly flat. Distance of between 9 and 14 km. The exact route will depend on the weather on the day.

At the end of the hike we take bus S18 back to Shilin MRT. We expect to be back in the city around 4.30/5PM. For those interested we can then grab some food.

Check this link for some info on the trail. We will not follow this exact route, but it gives an idea of what to expect.

Note this is a hike, not a walk! Make sure you are experienced and trained enough for this physically, so you can keep up with the group. The hike will take a few hours and the level is medium. Not too difficult but not suitable if you've never hiked before! Wear hiking shoes as some of the path could be muddy.

Important:

• A voluntary 50ntd contribution for attending is appreciated (to cover MeetUp expenses).
• Wear appropriate clothes and shoes for hiking in (unpredictable and sometimes extreme) Taiwan weather.
• Bring enough water (recommended 2L) and food for hiking for a few hours. Don't forget your lunch! There's no shops on the trail (toilets unknown).
• This informal hike is organized by volunteers. You yourself are the only one responsible for your physical and mental wellbeing at all times. Never leave the group without informing others and be careful and responsible. The hosts cannot be held accountable for any losses or injuries.
• Be friendly, willing to meet new people and make everyone feel welcome.
• Be flexible if the exact route or anything changes in case of unforeseen circumstances. Go with the flow. :)
