Hiking Wufen Shan (silver grass & waterfall)

Let's enjoy an afternoon of exercise in the mountains! Phoebe will guide us on this nice day.

We will go to see Shifen waterfall and hike Wufen Shan. End of the afternoon we can watch the sunset on top of the mountain, before heading back to the Shifen center. Here, we can eat something together and jump on the train or bus back home.

Length: ～7-9 km
Elevation change: ~ 500 m
Required hiking time: ～5-6 hours + Shifen waterfalls
Level: medium (not for beginners)
Meeting point: 11.30am at Shifen Train Station*
* If you depart from Taipei main station; take local fast train 4026 leaving at 10:05 and arriving at Ruifang station at 10:44, then transfer to local train 4818, leaving at 10:55 and arriving at Shifen at 11:22. Note; transfer time in Ruifang is short!
Also, train schedules can change - so double check yourself the day before how to get to Shifen or use the group chat to find fellow hikers taking the train!

Important:

• A voluntary 50ntd contribution for attending is appreciated (to cover MeetUp expenses).
• This is a hike, not a walk! Make sure you're trained enough to keep up with the group.
• Bring 2-3 L water, insect repellent, sunblock, enough food. There might not be any shops around.
• The event will be cancelled if there is >30% rain forecast on the day before
• Wear appropriate clothes and shoes for hiking in (unpredictable and sometimes extreme) Taiwan weather.
• This informal hike is organized by volunteers. You yourself are the only one responsible for your physical and mental wellbeing at all times. Never leave the group without informing others and be careful and responsible.
• Be friendly, willing to meet new people and make everyone feel welcome.
• Be flexible if the exact route or anything changes in case of unforeseen circumstances. Go with the flow. :)
