What we’re about
Welcome to our mountain dulcimer group meetup!
We have been around in one form or another since late 2015, when our wonderful dulcimer players Cheryl James and Sandy Duvall got us started with lessons, bringing many of us (even beginners) up into the intermediate range of players.
Changes!
For the near future we no longer have a regular meeting time and place, due to library scheduling. Please message us to find out where our upcoming meetings will be. We normally know our schedule 3 to 4 weeks in advance.
We practice and play a wide range of tunes from Celtic to Old Time to Renaissance to Cajun, and more! Our sessions are primarily about having fun practicing and getting better, trying out new music, and learning some music theory along the way. While we have performed before small groups in the past, performance is not the focus of our group.
We welcome all new members, regardless of skill level, for whom this sounds like fun. None of us thus far are experienced teachers, so you might wish to sit in with us and decide how best to learn the instrument. There are many fine dulcimer teachers available online that can help with that. We can recommend some of our favorites! If you already have experience with other instruments, you may find the mountain dulcimer relatively simple to learn.
There are no fees or dues to join. Our group has no affiliation with any other organizations.
