What we’re about

Welcome to the Highly Sensitive Persons of Asheville meetup! This group is dedicated to creating a supportive space for HSPs to connect regularly, make other HSP friends and to have fun The HSP Way!

We emphasize a compassionate and kind community because the truth is that HSPs need to be with other HSPs. You will see as you show up that spending time with other HSPs is a unique experience and a beautiful one. Join us as we encourage personal growth and deep connections. Let's celebrate our uniqueness together and uplift each other as HSPs!

This group is organized by Jane-Marie. She is passionate about creating community for HSPs near and far! If you would like to connect with her outside of meetup and get to know your group's organizer better here are a few options.

Highly Sensitive People Info:
A highly sensitive person is someone who has been born with the HSP trait, yes it is innate 😊 The trait is found in 20% of the world's population and over 100 other species.
A good way to understand decide if you are an HSP is to read through the brief explanation below.
The DOES acronym explains the different aspects of an HSP
Depth of processing: HSPs process information more deeply
Overstimulation: HSPs can wear out sooner because by nature they are taking in more stimulation from their surroundings
Emotional reactivity and/or Empathy: Feeling your surroundings and feelings in a big way and/or having a strong response to other's emotions
Sensing the subtle: Noticing body language, subtle facial expressions, nuances of your environment and those within it
