We do mostly day hikes on the Bruce Trail and on nearby trail systems within 90 minutes drive of Toronto.
Most of our hikes are 15 km or less.
If you are new to hiking, please start with a Level 1 hike.

All club activities are done at the participant's own risk.
Each participant agrees to voluntarily assume all risks, dangers, and expenses incidental to all club programs, functions or activities. High Park Hiking Club, its administration, event organizers, hike leaders, carpool drivers, etc. assumes no responsibility for claims, losses, damages, injury, costs or expenses due to club activities.
History of High Park Clubs
There used to be one club -- The High Park Ski Club.
The High Park Ski Club started at the High Park YMCA in the 50s.
We did all kinds of activities together: cross-country skiing and downhill skiing and snowshoeing and hiking and biking and rollerblading and canoeing and camping and dancing...
As the membership grew and the focus diverged, we decided to separate the different activities into independently operated clubs. Thus the creation of the High Park Hiking Club.

🏔️ Grind it at Glen Haffy: The Backdoor Edition
Glen Haffy, 18807 Centreville Creek Rd., Caledon East, ON, CAIt’s not Vancouver's infamous Grouse Grind, but we will be doing some legitimate climbing through Glen Haffy.
These trails offer some of the most panoramic vistas in southern Ontario. We're talking wide paths weaving through a landscape of trees reaching so far into the sky you might actually strain your neck.
🤫 What Sounds Will You Hear?- The sweet whistle of a cardinal.
- The deep croak of a bullfrog.
- The majestic, chaotic cackling of the High Park Hiking Group.
As a bonus, both the Niagara Escarpment and the Bruce Trail converge here, and it boasts some of the best trout fishing around—though we’ll be chasing kilometers, not fish.

đźš— The Logistics (Read Closely)
- When: Saturday, June 13th. Meet at the trailhead, laced up and ready to roll by 10:00 AM sharp.
- The Secret: We are entering through the back way once again. You know what that means: No parking fees. Use those saved loonies to buy yourself a celebratory coffee.
- Carpooling: Highly encouraged. Have you seen gas prices lately? Ouch. Organize among yourselves and share the pain at the pump.

🥾 The Stats & Location
- The Challenge: Expect 11 km of exhilarating, calf-burning hiking at a solid Level 3.
- Google Plus Code: W3RM+F4G Caledon, Ontario hyperlink
- What3words https://what3words.com/backside.boundary.nodded— Trust me, just use it. You’ll like it. Plus, "backside" is highly accurate for how our glutes will feel.

🎒 What to Bring
Be fully prepared with your usual gear: snacks, bug spray, plenty of water, a packed lunch, and... icers (WTF).
Yes, it’s June. No, there isn't ice. But look, we’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: there is no such thing as too much fresh air (or being ridiculously over-prepared).

Grindstone Falls
Location not specified yetOur hike leader is Carol Pyke.
Our plan is to hike east, to Waterdown, and Grindstone Falls. If it has been raining, we will hike west to Borer's Falls, which is less muddy.
Until we announce otherwise, we are not meeting at Yonge and York Mills (Old York Mills Road). If you need a ride or some passengers, arrange car pooling in the messages below. Car pooling is good for drivers. You get to meet people. You get a navigator. You get your gas costs defrayed a bit.
Starting from westbound on the QEW...
- Take the QEW west to Highway 403 west (Hamilton) to Highway 6 north.
- Go north on Highway 6 for approximately six kilometres, to the lights at Dundas Street.
- Turn right (west) onto Dundas Street and drive about 700 metres.
- Turn right into the plaza. This is 50-92 Dundas Street East. It has a Rona and a Walmart store.
- Drive south to the back of the plaza, between Staples and Rona, and then park. You should be right at the edge of the quarry to access the trail.

A Saturday Morning "Quicky" (Take Two))
Location not specified yetThe Rain Check Update: > Let’s try this again, shall we? Mother Nature completely flooded us out last time, turning our brisk hike into an accidental synchronized swimming event. Since none of us brought a snorkel, we are rescheduling! Same mission, hopefully much less mud.
On Saturday, June 27th, let’s get our hearts pumping and our stomachs growling. We’re hitting the Crothers Woods trails for a brisk city ravine loop before heading to the Evergreen Brick Works.
The pace will be snappy—think "I have a lunch date later" fast. We’ll be hunting down those legendary tapioca crepes and empanadas like they’re the last pieces of gear at an MEC sale.- The Mission: An 8.5 km jaunt in about 2 hours. Level 2 if you please.
- The Schedule: Meet at 9:30 AM. You’ll be back on your couch by 12:45 PM.
- The Spot: 50-58 True Davidson Dr.
- What3words https://what3words.com/using.cashier.rainy (Ironically, yes, "rainy" is still in the link... let's pray it's not a prophecy).
The first time I saw your hiking boots, I knew we were all sole-mates. Don’t leave me hanging.
