💰 Annual Membership Renewal Event: Help Keep the Boots Moving

| Date: Now until September 8, 2026

Cost: $20 per year

Hello Hikers,

This is the one event we hope everyone attends, although fortunately no hiking boots are required.

As many of you know, the High Park Hiking Club has ongoing expenses such as Meetup fees, insurance, and other operating costs that help keep the club running smoothly. Until now, these costs have largely been covered by the leadership team out of their own pockets.

Meanwhile, our hike leaders continue to volunteer their time planning routes, scouting trails, organizing events, answering questions, and guiding hikes. The pay is terrible, but the scenery is excellent.

To help keep the club sustainable, we are introducing an annual membership fee of:

$20 per year

That's about: One hour of minimum wage.
A couple of fancy coffees.
Less than many people spend on trail snacks.
Roughly 38 cents per week.

Membership Requirements

To remain an active member of the club, you will need:

✅ A signed club waiver

✅ Your annual membership fee

You have 30 days to complete your renewal.

Modern Technology Has Arrived

We are pleased to announce that the High Park Hiking Club has entered the modern age.
We now have a membership spreadsheet.
Not just any spreadsheet.
A spreadsheet in glorious colour.
Memberships are tracked. Renewal dates are monitored. Expiring memberships are highlighted. Active memberships glow with approval. Expired memberships attract the attention of the spreadsheet gods.

The spreadsheet remembers everything.

After 30 Days

Members who have renewed and signed the waiver will remain on the active membership list and continue receiving access to club hikes and events.

Members who choose not to renew will gently drift off into the sunset, disappearing over the horizon like hikers who said, "I'll catch up in a minute."

The spreadsheet, however, will never forget.
