Regional Hike - Longleaf Vista Road to Backbone Trail - 10.3 miles

Details
Hey Hikers!
It has been sometime since we have put together a true regional hike and we are planning on trying the Longleaf Vista Road to Backbone Trail loop (you can see it in Alltrails) next Saturday the 22nd of March.
Total hike distance is estimated at 10.3 miles so this will be one of our longer hikes and weather forecast (for now at least) looks perfect at 78 high and 52 low and clear. It does look like it has the potential to be a bit muddy and wet with the possibility of having to fjord some small streams so plan accordingly. We have hiked the Kisatchie National Forest previously and really enjoyed it with some good hills and valleys as opposed to the flatland of south Louisiana.
Normally we would find cheap accommodations nearby or camp and all have dinner on the Friday night before before an early 8:00 am push off from the trailhead but that is up to each hiker. Per Google maps it is about 4 hour drive from NOLA. Unfortunately Meetup does not show this trail in their system (suprise!:-)) but on the Alltrails app it does have a Google and Apple maps links to get there but also will be staying in touch with those attending to make sure we all find it!
Closer to time I will send an update to those attending and hope to see a few hardy souls next weekend!:-)
Thanks,
David
