Going nuclear in Pickering (11.6 km)

Details
We're going to the nicest part of Pickering. It's known for a nuclear plant. And an idyllic beach at Frenchman's Bay, with a sweeping view of said nuclear plant. Other nuclear-themed sites and an underrated waterfront await in this hike. For added challenge, you can hike on sand or extend the hike back to the starting point.
There are no restaurants worth a detour in Pickering, with one exception: the only Congolese restaurant in the GTA. It's a great opportunity to try Central African dishes like moambe (peanut butter chicken stew) and kwanga (fermented cassava paste). We'll also check out the better restaurants in the area so that you know where to eat the next time you're in the neighbourhood.
We'll pre-order dinner when we reach Pickering Town Centre. If you're not there but want to join after, please e-transfer a deposit of $10.

Mostly flat. Sandy beaches along Frenchman's Bay. Iodine pills not necessary; we won't go to the nuclear plant, only observing it from 350m away.
Unlimited day pass for GO train is $10.
How it works
Hike starts punctually. Late or can't do the whole route? Meet us at scheduled checkpoints.
We'll browse many food places but won't linger long. Grab ready-made food, or see the route in advance, organize takeout, then pickup along the way.
Not sure what to try? Join our omakase for $5, which gives a tiny sample from different restaurants. Payment on the day of event by cash or e-transfer to globaltorontoeats@gmail.com. No refunds after orders are placed. Details of sampled food will be uploaded after the hike.
