Sixteen kilometres of Sixteen Mile Creek (9.7 km)
Details
Sixteen Mile Creek is the premier hiking trail in Oakville and we're going to be one of the few crazy ones to walk 16 km from the main section all the way to the end at the lake shore. Unfortunately, two golf courses are in the way, so we have to make a detour in suburbia. You'll quickly learn how Oakville is emblematic of suburban sprawl: swathes of low-rise, boring residential areas with few shops, restaurants, and people on the streets.
This is the first of a two-part hike on the same day. Combined, it's 16 km. This hike focuses on nature trails and the modern architecture of Sheridan College. The second part has lots of food and pretty historic buildings in downtown Oakville. Sign up on a separate event.

This is a faster and longer hike than usual. Minimum speed is 4.5 to 5 km/h. Those with no experience should join for the second part of the hike.
Expect muddy and wet trails. Ice is also possible, so bring traction aids just in case.
There are NO TOILETS for the first 100 minutes of the hike. Portable toilets at the start point.
Recommended to take public transport to the start point to avoid returning to the middle of nowhere after the hike. $10 unlimited GO transit pass to get to Oakville GO station. Transfer to Oakville Transit buses (separate cost), alight at Lions Valley Park Rd, and walk down the road to the start point.
