About us
Hi, I’m Maddy! I love exploring Austin’s trails and getting outside whenever I can. Over time, I kept hearing the same thing from friends: “Take me hiking with you next time!” So I decided to turn that into something bigger.
This group is a space for anyone who wants to get outside, meet new people, and enjoy Austin’s nature together. All hikes are casual, welcoming, and open to the public. Feel free to bring friends, family, or your pup along.
Most group hikes last about 2 to 3 hours, depending on the trail, time of day, and group pace.
I’ll also be hosting a variety of themed hikes and experiences, and I’m always open to new ideas. If there’s something you’d love to see, feel free to reach out.
You can follow along or message me on Instagram at @HikewithMaddyATX for updates and more info.

Evening Hike along Ann & Roy Butler Hike & Bike Trail (South Side)
South Hike and Bike Trailhead, 2222-2384 Stratford Dr, Austin, TX, USBack by popular demand!!
During the summer since it is hot, we will keep to our classic, shaded routes that are easy to walk during the summer. This time we will be going back to the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail around Towne Lake.
We’ll meet at the south side of the MoPac Pedestrian Bridge this time (PLEASE NOTE: this is different than our meet up spot last time!!) and head east along the south shore toward I-35, then loop back the same way.The full out-and-back route is about 5 miles total, but will probably need to turn back early since we aren't quite yet in those summer evening daylight hours. We will keep things flexible depending on group pace, energy, and daylight. If needed, we’ll turn around early to make sure everyone gets back comfortably before dark.
This is a flat, beginner-friendly route at a casual, social pace. Expect good conversation, skyline views, and a relaxed evening outside.

Morning Hike on Barton Creek Greenbelt - from Zilker to Gus Fruh
Violet Crown Trail, 2206 William Barton Drive, Austin, TX, USSunday morning trek and taco alert! 🚨
In the summer, we will be starting our hikes a little earlier to avoid the worst of the heat. On this hike, we will be exploring one of Austin’s most beloved trails: the Barton Creek Greenbelt. We’ll begin at the new mile marker 0 trailhead for the Violet Crown Trail in Zilker Park and make our way along the greenbelt toward Gus Fruh, enjoying a beautiful stretch of trail with creek views, shaded areas, rocky terrain, and plenty of classic Austin nature along the way.
On the way back, we’ll make a stop at Tacodeli near the Spyglass entrance for anyone who wants to grab breakfast tacos, coffee, or a post-hike snack before heading back towards Zilker. 🌮
This route will be about 4.25 miles total, out and back. The trail includes natural surfaces, uneven footing, rocks, roots, and some areas that may be muddy or slippery depending on recent rain, so please wear comfortable hiking shoes and come prepared for typical greenbelt conditions. We’ll keep a social, steady pace and adjust as needed based on the group.
This hike is a great option if you’re looking to get outside early, enjoy some shaded trail time, meet new people, and spend a summer morning moving your body before the day gets too hot.
