About us
Hi, I’m Maddy! I love exploring Austin’s trails and getting outside whenever I can. Over time, I kept hearing the same thing from friends: “Take me hiking with you next time!” So I decided to turn that into something bigger.
This group is a space for anyone who wants to get outside, meet new people, and enjoy Austin’s nature together. All hikes are casual, welcoming, and open to the public. Feel free to bring friends, family, or your pup along.
Most group hikes last about 2 to 3 hours, depending on the trail, time of day, and group pace.
I’ll also be hosting a variety of themed hikes and experiences, and I’m always open to new ideas. If there’s something you’d love to see, feel free to reach out.
You can follow along or message me on Instagram at @HikewithMaddyATX for updates and more info.
Looking forward to getting outside with you all 🌿

Violet Crown Trail Hike: 360 Trailhead to 290 Trailhead
3755 S Capital of Texas Hwy, Austin, TX 78704, 3755 S Capital of Texas Hwy, Austin, TX, USWhoo-hoo! Time for another Hike with Maddy ATX adventure with the crew. 🌿
On our next hike, we’ll be exploring a beautiful stretch of the Violet Crown Trail, starting at the Barton Creek 360 Trailhead (the entrance next to the office building!) and ending at the 290 Trailhead.
This route offers a peaceful, mostly shaded experience through a forested area, with a more natural Hill Country feel. The trail is generally fairly flat with some gentle elevation changes and sections of rocky, uneven terrain, making it a nice balance between relaxed and active. Along the way, there are a few spur trails that lead to scenic spots along the creek, which we may explore depending on time and group interest.
We’ll be doing a 4-mile out-and-back at a social, supportive pace and will keep the group together. This is a great option if you’re looking for something approachable and grounding, with just a bit more of a workout than a paved path, but nothing too intense. The trail also follows along the Barton Creek Greenbelt, so expect a classic Austin outdoor experience and to see others out enjoying the trail as well.

BIG SATURDAY HIKE: Bull Creek to St. Edward's Park Loop
Lower Bull Creek parking, 7904 1/2 N Capital of Texas Hwy, Austin, TX, USOn Saturdays, we TREK 🥾
When I can, I love starting the weekend with a longer, more immersive hike and this one is a good one. On Saturday, May 16 I will be leading a hike on the Bull Creek to St. Edwards Park Loop Trail, a scenic route that connects some of the most beautiful natural areas in Austin.
View the AllTrails route here!
PLEASE NOTE: This is not a beginner hike.
We’ll be covering about 8 miles out-and-back over 4 to 5 hours, and the terrain is mostly uneven, rocky, and at times a bit rugged. You’ll want to come prepared for a longer effort and be comfortable on your feet. Also, you will need to bring plenty of water (~0.5 - 1 gallon of water is required), and snacks to keep your energy levels high.
That said, this trail is absolutely worth it. This stretch follows Bull Creek and winds through lush, shaded areas with limestone bluffs, flowing water, and some of the most peaceful, tucked-away nature spots in the city. There are several creek access points along the way, so we may take short breaks to enjoy the water and reset.
We’ll move at a steady, supportive pace and take breaks as needed, but this is definitely more of a “trek” than a casual stroll.A few quick details:
🕘 Start time: 10:00AM (We are starting a little earlier this time!)
📍 Meeting point: Upper Bull Creek Greenbelt trailhead (exact pin linked below)
🥾 Distance: 8 miles (out-and-back)
⏱ Duration: ~4–5 hours
🐶 Dogs welcome (must be trail-ready and able to handle the distance)
💧 Bring plenty of water and snacks. 0.5 - 1 gallon of water is required to bring with you on this journey! It will be hot! I will not let you make an 8-mile trek without enough water!
🥾 Sturdy hiking shoes are requiredOn these longer hikes, I like to take the opportunity to reflect in nature and think through some of my personal development goals. If the group is open to it, I’ll offer a few optional nature-based reflection exercises to help you slow down, reset, and connect more intentionally with yourself and your surroundings.
If you’re looking for a challenge, deeper nature, and a really rewarding Saturday morning, this is your hike.
