About us
Hi, I’m Maddy! I love exploring Austin’s trails and getting outside whenever I can. Over time, I kept hearing the same thing from friends: “Take me hiking with you next time!” So I decided to turn that into something bigger.
This group is a space for anyone who wants to get outside, meet new people, and enjoy Austin’s nature together. All hikes are casual, welcoming, and open to the public. Feel free to bring friends, family, or your pup along.
Most group hikes last about 2 to 3 hours, depending on the trail, time of day, and group pace.
I’ll also be hosting a variety of themed hikes and experiences, and I’m always open to new ideas. If there’s something you’d love to see, feel free to reach out.
You can follow along or message me on Instagram at @HikewithMaddyATX for updates and more info.

Evening Hike Along Shoal Creek Trail
Shoal Creek Trail Parking, 1101B Gaston Avenue, Austin, TX, USTime for another Hike with Maddy ATX adventure with the crew 🌿
On this hike, we will be exploring a scenic stretch of the Shoal Creek Trail, starting at the parking lot just north of 24th Street, and walk all the way to the end of the trail at Lady Bird Lake in Downtown Austin.
This route offers a relaxed, mostly shaded experience as we follow Shoal Creek through a mix of natural areas and urban green space. The trail is primarily flat and accessible, with a combination of paved paths and some more natural sections along the creek. It's a 5-mile hike out and back. We should have enough time to complete the full trail before sunset, but we’ll adjust as needed based on the group’s pace and how everyone’s feeling, and may turn around early if needed. I will make sure we get back to our cars before dark!
This hike is a perfect option if you’re looking for a low-pressure way to get outside after work, move your body, and connect with others without anything too strenuous.

Evening Hike along Ann & Roy Butler Hike & Bike Trail (South Side)
South Hike and Bike Trailhead, 2222-2384 Stratford Dr, Austin, TX, USBack by popular demand!!
During the summer since it is hot, we will keep to our classic, shaded routes that are easy to walk during the summer. This time we will be going back to the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail around Towne Lake.
We’ll meet at the south side of the MoPac Pedestrian Bridge this time (PLEASE NOTE: this is different than our meet up spot last time!!) and head east along the south shore toward I-35, then loop back the same way.The full out-and-back route is about 5 miles total, but will probably need to turn back early since we aren't quite yet in those summer evening daylight hours. We will keep things flexible depending on group pace, energy, and daylight. If needed, we’ll turn around early to make sure everyone gets back comfortably before dark.
This is a flat, beginner-friendly route at a casual, social pace. Expect good conversation, skyline views, and a relaxed evening outside.
