BIG SATURDAY HIKE: Bull Creek to St. Edward's Park Loop
Details
On Saturdays, we TREK 🥾
When I can, I love starting the weekend with a longer, more immersive hike and this one is a good one. On Saturday, May 16 I will be leading a hike on the Bull Creek to St. Edwards Park Loop Trail, a scenic route that connects some of the most beautiful natural areas in Austin.
View the AllTrails route here!
PLEASE NOTE: This is not a beginner hike.
We’ll be covering about 8 miles out-and-back over 4 to 5 hours, and the terrain is mostly uneven, rocky, and at times a bit rugged. You’ll want to come prepared for a longer effort and be comfortable on your feet. Also, you will need to bring plenty of water (~0.5 - 1 gallon of water is required), and snacks to keep your energy levels high.
That said, this trail is absolutely worth it. This stretch follows Bull Creek and winds through lush, shaded areas with limestone bluffs, flowing water, and some of the most peaceful, tucked-away nature spots in the city. There are several creek access points along the way, so we may take short breaks to enjoy the water and reset.
We’ll move at a steady, supportive pace and take breaks as needed, but this is definitely more of a “trek” than a casual stroll.
A few quick details:
🕘 Start time: 10:00AM (We are starting a little earlier this time!)
📍 Meeting point: Upper Bull Creek Greenbelt trailhead (exact pin linked below)
🥾 Distance: 8 miles (out-and-back)
⏱ Duration: ~4–5 hours
🐶 Dogs welcome (must be trail-ready and able to handle the distance)
💧 Bring plenty of water and snacks. 0.5 - 1 gallon of water is required to bring with you on this journey! It will be hot! I will not let you make an 8-mile trek without enough water!
🥾 Sturdy hiking shoes are required
On these longer hikes, I like to take the opportunity to reflect in nature and think through some of my personal development goals. If the group is open to it, I’ll offer a few optional nature-based reflection exercises to help you slow down, reset, and connect more intentionally with yourself and your surroundings.
If you’re looking for a challenge, deeper nature, and a really rewarding Saturday morning, this is your hike.
