Ptarmigan Lake & Hotsprings

**Meet in Safeway parking lot (6520 S. Academy Blvd) and carpool about 2.5 hours to the Ptarmigan trailhead near buena vista.

Bring $$ for gas, hotsprings and lunch

This is a moderate/ hard 6 miles out and back trail with about 1200ft elevation gain that features a lake, waterfalls and picture-worthy views of surrounding peaks.

On our way back, we will stop at Cottonwood Hot Springs for a soak. $40 Swimsuit is required!!

Soak in Geothermal Pools: After the hike, head down the mountain to Cottonwood Hot Springs Inn & Spa (located at 18999 Co Rd 306) to relax in natural, chemical-free pools.

Explore St. Elmo Ghost Town: Drive roughly 19 miles to St. Elmo, one of Colorado's best-preserved ghost towns. You can feed the incredibly friendly chipmunks (seeds are available at the general store), wander the 1880s cabins, or rent an off-highway vehicle (OHV).

Hike to Agnes Vaille Falls: Located on the drive toward St. Elmo, this quick and scenic 1.1-mile trail leads to a beautiful, cascading waterfall.
