*Details*
This is one of the most beautiful and relatively easy hikes in the Kananaskis. We'll tackle a short, sweaty 1.4 km uphill climb right out of the gate, but the payoff is immediate when we hit the crystal- clear waters of Elbow Lake. From there, the trail levels out completely into a beautiful, flat and easy walk on an old fire road down the valley of the upper Elbow to Desolation Flats. The real highlight is finding Edworthy Falls—a stunning 20-metre waterfall hidden in a steep gully just off the main path. Getting down to the base of the falls is a bit of a steep scramble, but we will navigate it slowly and carefully. Misty views are absolutely worth it. This is a relaxed, social 9.5 km hike where the focus is on enjoying the scenery, taking photos, and having a lunch break by the water rather than rushing to the finish line.
Please note that I may cancel or change the hike at any time due to thunderstorms, wildfire smoke, or other unsafe conditions . The safety is my priority, and decisions may sometimes need to be made at short notice based on the latest forecast and trail conditions. Weather in the mountains can change quickly, so even if the forecast looks good beforehand, plans may need to change. If conditions are unsafe or unsuitable for an enjoyable hike, the hike may be canceled, postponed, shortened, or replaced with an alternative plan.
