Sulphur Mountain
Details
This is one of Banff’s most iconic hikes, offering a steady climb through the forest before opening up to spectacular 360-degree views of the Bow Valley, Mount Rundle, and the Banff townsite. Once we reach the top, we’ll take some time to explore the area, walk along the Sulphur Mountain Boardwalk, and visit the historic Cosmic Ray Station and the original 1903 Weather Observatory. There will also be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the panoramic views of six mountain ranges, the Bow River, Lake Minnewanka, and the surrounding peaks.
Please keep in mind that mountain weather can change quickly, so come prepared with appropriate clothing (no cotton), layers, enough food, and water. We’ll be spending at least 5 - 6 hours on the trail, including time to explore at the top. This hike is weather-dependent, so please check the event page in the morning for any updates or possible cancellation.
Just a heads-up, this will be a longer day in the mountains, and we’ll take our time enjoying the hike and exploring the top. Please make sure you have the day free before signing up, as we won’t be rushing back to Calgary. 🙂
