What we’re about
Hike Oxfordshire is part of the Ramblers and is aimed at young walkers in their 20's, 30's, and 40's but anyone is welcome regardless of their age.
https://hikeoxfordshire.org/
You are able to attend 3 walks for free after which you will need to join the Ramblers. Ramblers membership will allow you to continue walking with us or any other Ramblers groups.
Membership is only £41 a year and you can join here:
https://www.ramblers.org.uk/membership
We are a group who enjoy walking and socialising. Almost all of our walks end at the pub and we also organise regular monthly socials in Oxford and surrounding towns - we go for meals and pub trips as well as things like comedy, cycle tours and the theatre.
Please note the following:
There maybe a number of Ramblers members joining the group who are not shown on the Meetup RSVP list.
The group is normally easy to find by looking for a group in walking kit. Please aim to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the walk and if you are having trouble finding the group please contact the walk leader.
The organiser identified on Meetup may be different from the actual walk leader. Please see the description of the walk for their name and contact details.
In terms of what you need to bring:
- A packed lunch (unless the walk description says otherwise)
- Water
- Suitable clothing according to the weather conditions that day
- We advise walking shoes or boots
- Waterproof coats and trousers as you may well get wet and muddy.

See all- Chipping Norton via Chruchill Circular Walk (9 miles)New Street Car Park, Chipping Norton, Chipping Norton
Join us for a 9-mile walk through some of the most picturesque landscapes the Cotswolds have to offer. Starting and ending in the charming market town of Chipping Norton, this route features varied terrain, stunning countryside views, and great company.
We’ll set off along the historic Shakespeare Way, making our way to the tranquil village of Salford. From there, we’ll continue to the beautiful Cornwell Manor estate, passing through a stretch of peaceful woodland before climbing the hill past Kingham Hill Farm. As we leave the Shakespeare Way, we’ll head into the village of Churchill for our halfway stop.
We’ll enjoy our packed lunch on the village green beside the striking All Saints Church, whose imposing tower is a 2/3 scale replica of the tower at Magdalen College in Oxford, and features a hammer beam roof inspired by Christ Church. During our stop, we’ll also grab a drink at the local pub The Churchill, before setting off again.
From here, we’ll cross the second hill, taking in sweeping views as we descend through the valley beside Sarsgrove Wood, gradually looping back to our starting point in Chipping Norton.
We’ll finish the day with the option to unwind at one of the many welcoming pubs near the car park – a great way to reflect on the day’s adventure and share stories with fellow walkers.
We look forward to sharing this beautiful journey with you!

Our walk starts from the main train station on the southern edge of the village, following a peaceful stretch of the Thames Path before a short but invigorating climb to Primrosehill Shaw, where we’ll pause to take in stunning views of the Thames gently winding through the valley below.
From there, we’ll continue through a beautiful mix of woodland and open fields, passing through Great Chalk Wood, skirting a few working farms, and eventually joining the Chiltern Way as we make our way up to the quiet village of Whitchurch Hill. Here, we’ll enjoy a well-earned break and lunch stop at The Sun, a traditional country pub with a welcoming beer garden—ideal for relaxing with a cold pint or a refreshing soft drink.
Refreshed, we’ll head back along scenic trails through Little Oaken Wood, Shirvells Hill, Old Elvendon Wood, and the peaceful paths of Wroxhills Wood. The final stretch takes us through a tranquil valley and across open fields, returning to Goring from the northeast.
