Hook Norton to Wichford Circular Walk (9 miles)
Details
Experience the perfect blend of stunning scenery, invigorating exercise, and warm company on a delightful 9-mile walk that promises to be a highlight of your week. Our circular route begins and ends in the beautiful village of Hook Norton. With its honey-stone cottages, winding lanes, and rural charm, Hook Norton provides the perfect backdrop for a memorable day in the Oxfordshire countryside.
Our route begins in the heart of Hook Norton, where we set out through open fields and quiet hedgerow paths that soon reveal sweeping views across the rolling Cotswold hills. The trail leads us north towards Great Rollright, a peaceful village surrounded by open farmland and gently undulating countryside.
From Great Rollright, we’ll follow a series of scenic field paths and bridleways towards Whichford, enjoying the changing landscapes as we make our way across meadows and through small wooded stretches. Around the halfway point, we’ll pause for a well-earned lunch break in the countryside — a chance to rest, refuel, and take in the tranquillity of the Cotswold setting.
After lunch, we’ll continue south towards Ascott, following quiet lanes and rural footpaths that wind between dry-stone walls, grazing fields, and broad hilltop views. The route then loops back towards Hook Norton, where the village’s distinctive church tower comes into view across the valley.
Back in Hook Norton, we’ll round off the day with a visit to one of the village’s welcoming pubs — the perfect way to relax and celebrate a rewarding walk in good company.
This 9-mile walk offers a wonderful blend of scenic beauty, local heritage, and rural tranquillity — the perfect opportunity to explore the Cotswolds at a relaxed pace, meet new friends, and enjoy the best of Oxfordshire’s countryside charm.
We look forward to sharing this beautiful journey with you!
