This 7ish-milel loop hike follows both sides of the Delaware River.
We start in Washington Crossing, New Jersey, heading south on the former Bel Del railroad bed, which runs parallel to the feeder canal and is often mistakenly assumed to be a canal towpath.
We continue south to reach the Scudder Falls Pedestrian Bridge, where we cross into Pennsylvania.
On the Pennsylvania side, we turn north and walk the Delaware Canal towpath, returning to Washington Crossing, PA, then cross the river again to complete the loop back in New Jersey.
Along the route, we pass the intake area of the Trenton Water Power Canal, a largely forgotten historic waterway that once powered Trenton’s industries and is easy to miss today.

Required: Normally an easy, mostly flat walk, but due to recent snow and possible ice, hiking poles and traction devices (microspikes/cleats) are strongly recommended

Important: Please check the weather forecast closely the night before and again before heading out, and watch for any last-minute updates or changes to the hike.
