Details

First, about the ever increasing rate of No-Shows, (65% last Sunday). If you are not certain you can make it to the Event. Please do the following! (For members of this Meetup only.)
Don't RSVP, just don't RSVP, if it turns out in the end, you can make it, you are welcome to attend, without an RSVP, just come as you are, unannounced!
For example the above is to help in cases like these below, and all other cases as well:

  • Reserving a spot just in case it turns out you can make it.
  • You can't make up your mind which event you want to attend so you RSVP to both.
  • You are using multiple RSVPs as possibilities of things to do.
  • You are using RSVPs as reminders of things to do.
  • Etc.

With an original "craggy", chaparral covered landscape, and even though a manageable distance to the heart of 19th century San Francisco, Russian Hill remained sparsely populated. Caused by the terrain making for difficult accessibility and in turn lower land value. This led to Russian Hill being sought out by certain rebels and those who wanted relief from the hubbub of the City. While Nob Hill became known for its "Castles in the Air". Russian Hill's Castles were its "Cottages in the Air".
Along our way we'll take a look at one of those, "Cottages in the Air".

We have beautiful stair paths with gorgeous views to walk today.
We'll talk about the substantial and varied architecture and even see a small cluster of Victorians that somehow survived the 06' Fire.
With many stair paths to climb and descend, I would definitely wear sturdy footwear. No sandals or flimsy footwear today.

I can't resist going out for lunch afterward, being only a stones throw from North Beach. (Anybody have a fantastic recommendation? If we get 6 or more going to the same place for lunch, we should make a reservation!)

I don't have much about local urban legends and gossip, but there must be much. If you have a story, not too gory or bawdy, let me know, and I'll clear it for general audiences. Then you, or I if you wish, will tell it to all.
