Details
A most pleasant, should be sunny, could be windy, walk along the Bay.
There are many side streets nearby with parking. Just leave extra time to find parking and allow time to walk over to where we meet. Holidays find Chestnut St. busy. I look for parking a half mile away and enjoy the walk to Starbucks. Just leave some extra time. Also many public transportation routes find their way here, although today on a holiday schedule.
Round-trip walk is about five miles taking about 2.5 hours, some small hills. This is a flexible route that allows for more or less walking. Going by way of the Presidio, take in Tunnel Tops and some Presidio history then return via Billionaire's Row and Lyon Street Steps. Or you can turnaround and return at anytime to shorten the distance/time. It always seems very safe out there in the daytime, even when walking alone.
There's the option for finding lunch on Union St. or Chestnut St., on returning.
Bring water, snacks, hat and sunscreen. Of course wear sturdy walking/hiking footwear. You never know if it will be sunny and warm or windy and cool. Dress in layers and I always recommend having a light windbreaker.
I think it's important to wear proper footwear on these events. I've been leading hikes and tours for a long time. Don't risk a painful sprained ankle by wearing inappropriate footwear.
If you would like to buy me a beer, offer thanks and appreciation, I will be passing ‘the hat’/Venmo. Not a requirement.
