Highest Rated Lane Cove Nat'l Park Hike – Riverside Loop – 11kms & Let's Pub!

I just googled “Best Hikes in Lane Cove National Park” and this 10.5kms Riverside Loop was #1 on AllTrails. It’s super close to Chatswood Station too, and spending Sunday with me and the hiking gang in Mother Nature is a helluva lot better than going to church!

I’ve never done it – a newbie is always a treat, so let’s do it and add a post-hike pub as usual.

THE RIVERSIDE LOOP HIKE. What they say…
The delightful 10.5kms Riverside walking track loop meanders through natural bushland and a string of picturesque picnic areas in Lane Cove National Park, just north of Sydney CBD. Enjoy a weekend getaway without leaving town with simple pleasures of birdwatching and wildlife-spotting.

Following the southern bank of Lane Cove River, from the weir near Delhi Road to Deburghs Bridge, the scenic walk takes in peaceful bush settings where you can stop and enjoy tranquil river views. When it’s time for a lunch break, unroll the picnic blanket at Commandment Rock Picnic Area.

Along the track you might see lorikeets and kookaburras as well as egrets and spoonbills, so be sure to bring along some binoculars. Keep an eye out for swamp wallabies and brush turkeys darting through the bush.

b) $10 cash or PayID;

d) Show up if you RSVP "yes" / let's stop with the "dog ate homework" = "public transport dramas" excuses;
e) Bring some good energy, smiles and chat – add a backpack with water, food, and snacks;
f) DIY research if driving / looking for parking;
g) 10am meet at Bus Station, and the bus departs at 10:10am Chatswood Stand G – only a 5minutes ride; and
h) Fitness matters (though there’s no crazy inclines / declines) here so be ready for some uneven surfaces, rocks, trails, and more.

THE PUB.
Google’ing pubs in the immediate area resulted in "not many options", so let’s jump on a quick bus back to Chatswood - The Orchard Hotel is meant to be a pretty decent pub, and it's right next to the station.
