Moderate hike through Prince William Forest Park, one of Washington’s best kept hiking secretes.
The park is scenic rolling woodlands and creek valleys just south of Potomac Mills.
This is about 10 miles of rolling hills, 3-1/2 to 4 hours.
Dress for the weather, bring a picnic lunch, there’s a nice lunch spot overlooking some small waterfalls.
Hikers: Adults only-moderate difficulty.
Where to Meet: Turkey Run visitor center which is inside the park, about 15minute drive from the entry. Pay entry fee at gate or visitor center.
Duration: 3-1/2 to 4 hours.
Scenery: Rolling woodlands, secluded creek valleys.
Trail surface: mostly dirt/muddy when wet. Some gravel.
Facilities: There are rest room facilities at the visitor center, and turkey Run, but not during the hike.
Fees: There is a $20 per vehicle park entrance fee. Or use your park pass.
Elevation Gain: a few hundred feet.
