Hike Bart's Trail & Canoncito Trail Loop

Moderate hike approximately 11 miles. There is a medallion tree and a nice spring with a waterfall off the Faulty Trail.

We need to park at Horse Bypass since the Cienega Picnic Area closes from October 15 through May 15th. We will start the hike on the Cienega Trail then get on the Faulty Trail for about 2.8 miles and start the loop by going up Bart's Trail for about 2 miles until we reach the Crest Trail (0.7 mile) then come down the Canoncito Trail (3.0 miles). We will get back on the Faulty Trail for about 2.3 miles to end the hike.

If you prefer a shorter hike you can turn around at any point or hang out at the spring. The spring is approximately 2.8 miles on the Faulty Trail.

Head north on 14 and meet at Lazy Lizard Grill. Carpool to Horse Bypass. Turn on Sandia Crest Road (NM536). Turn left on Sulphur Canyon Road. There will be a sign with Cienega Spring and Sulphur Spring. Take a left at the Y to Cienega Picnic area. Park at Horse Bypass.
