Embudo South Ridge
Details
Sandias Morning Exercise (SME): 1st of a series.
Starting from the Open Space parking area at the east end of Indian School Blvd NE. We will ascend on trail and use trail to the south ridge of Embudo Canyon. The traverse of the south ridge used to be a difficult-to-follow, on-again and off-again route, but it now has a defined tread throughout. We descend from Post Pass on a steep, barely-there path known only to a few. Then on-trail for our return.
Expect sections of uncomfortably steep with difficult footing (loose rocks and ball-bearing gravel).
At this stage of my life, this is a nearly 5 hour hike. I plan on one food break. Approximately 2000' of elevation (6200'-7850').
No dogs, please.
