Old Folks Hike Domingo Baca
Details
Join us for this hike up the first two miles of the Domingo Baca Trail and back. The trail starts out on open, sandy, rocky terrain, then moves into piñon and juniper, and finally into a rocky arroyo in a canyon with magnificent boulder walls. We’ll go at about a 1.5 mph moving pace with frequent stops.
Hiking Distance: ~4 miles RT
Elevation gain: ~730’
Meeting place: Kiwanis Park Reservation Area. From Tramway Blvd, head east on Simms Park Road until you get to the Elena Gallegos entrance building. You no longer pay your fee there; rather, you go around the building and continue on the road to the north until you get to the parking area where there will be a fee payment machine. Fee is $1 on weekdays, credit card only, or use your annual City of Albuquerque Open Space Pass.
Please note:
Bikes share the first part of this route; watch out for them.
Please stay behind the leader.
