San Ysidro Trials Area Loop Hike
Details
I have passed this area many times, but have never stopped to check it out. The description is intriguing...
"A unique slot canyon area at the southern tip of the Sierra Nacimiento offers a comprehensive lesson in geology—or, for the layperson, just a lot of strange rocks to gawk at. Scenery: Sinuous canyons, hardrock desert, sandstone and gypsum mesas."
"...the entire recreation area lies at the southern tip of the Jemez Mountain range and is open for hiking, primitive camping, etc..."
Lenght of the trail loop is 3.9 miles with a 1.2 mile walk to get to the trail head, so distance roughly 6+ miles, skill level is rated easy-moderate.
Let's meet in the Home Depot parking lot (off of Hwy 550) at 10:30 a.m., carpool as much as we can (please help drivers with $$), and make our way to the parking area, which is roughly a mile or so north of San Ysidro.
Dress appropriately for this time of the year. Forecast says 62 degrees (hope so) and nice.
Bring plenty of water, pack a lunch, wear sunscreen, good hiking shoes, CAMERA, and let's go exploring!
This event is also cross posted with WOW WE.
