Announcing a new Meetup for The Albuquerque Hiking and Outdoor Meetup!

What: EYE OF THE SANDIAS - moderate but not easy

When: Wednesday, November 17,[masked]:30 AM

Where: Copper Trail Head
East end of Copper
Albuquerque, NM 87111

Here's a hike moderate in every way.

  • Moderate in length [about 5 miles]
  • moderate elevation gain [1500']
  • moderate scrambling - short rocky sections which require use of hands
  • moderate steepness but gravelly trail can make you lose your footing

Some experience or athletic ability is needed to complete this hike. What I call moderate you might call easy - or strenuous - depending on your ability. If you need more information please E-mail me. We're going to take it nice and easy and go at a good pace for everyone. It should take about 3 hours.
The trailhead is at the EAST end of Copper half a mile or so from Tramway.

Bring sensible boots or shoes, along with plenty of water, a snack, sunscreen and hat, hiking poles suggested. Dogs OK but please keep them on leash for the safety and comfort of all.

Look for an update the day before the hike. Bad weather cancels.
