Wednesday Burro Group - Chamisa to Borrego via Winsor (Car Shuttle)

I PLANNED FOR THIS HIKE A COUPLE OF WEDNESDAYS AGO, BUT WE CHOSE ANOTHER PLAN FOR THAT DAY, SO HERE IT IS AGAIN, ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO HIKE THIS VERY PRETTY, MODERATE HIKE.

Chamisa to Borrego via Winsor (one way, car shuttle):

Approximately 6 miles with mild elevation gain total (uphill on 1st segment of Chamisa & on Winsor & Borrego), this will be a moderate hike for us involving a car shuttle, which I will help coordinate. We'll all begin at Chamisa TH, after leaving one or more cars at Borrego TH for our return. Chamisa is initially uphill, then down to Winsor, where we can break if we wish at the creek, or postpone our break until we reach intersection of Winsor & Borrego, at the water there, a very pretty spot. It will be a mild uphill for about 1 mile on the Winsor to Borrego, then another climb up Borrego to its TH, but these are not significantly steep for most in our Group. Still, it will be a workout, with some nice shade for our return on Borrego.

Burro Hikes are for experienced hikers, most of our hikes are moderate in difficulty (by our standards), usually on designated trails, usually 4-6 miles in distance unless otherwise specified.

Non-aggressive, well-mannered dogs are welcome on all my hikes (unless otherwise specified, some locations prohibit dogs).

Newcomers are welcome on all my hikes; I ask that newcomers please test your fitness for my Group by timing yourself hiking up and down Atalaya, which you should be able to do comfortably in 3 1/2 hours or less (from Wilderness Gate or staircase, using Steep Route). We meet at the DeVargas Mall, in the back lot, behind the stores; please park in a lane near the bowling alley, but not right up against the mall wall. We carpool to all THs. Please offer your driver $2 to cover gas expense for this hike. We like to leave promptly so if you're running just a few minutes late, text me, & we'll wait up to 5 minutes for you.
