Sunday Burro Group - Rim Vista, Abiquiu
Details
PLEASE NOTE START TIME OF 9:00!
I DO LIKE HIKERS TO ALWAYS HAVE SPIKES WITH THEM FOR WINTER HIKES, BUT I DOUBT WE'LL NEED THEM FOR THIS HIKE.
Rim Vista is a lovely, 5.5 mile climb to a flat topped mesa with expansive and beautiful views of Abiquiu Lake, Cerro Pedernal, red rock cliffs, and the entire Ghost Ranch valley. Elevation gain approximately 1500 feet, over the course of a gradual climb up. We will have our snack/lunch break atop the mesa, affording us fabulous views all round. If you've not been here before, you're in for a treat! I consider this hike moderate in difficulty for our Group, it is not hard, but does entail a fairly steady climb.
Drive Time each way is about 75 minutes.
Burro hikes are for experienced hikers, acclimated to altitude hiking here. They are customarily rated as moderate by our standards, usually 4-6 miles in distance, typically on designated trails, unless otherwise specified in Hike Description. Newcomers are welcome! I do ask that prior to signing up for your first hike with my Group, that you test your fitness by timing yourself hiking up and down Atalaya. You need to be able to comfortably do this in 3 1/2 hours or less, starting at Wilderness Gate or staircase, using Steep route option. If you have any questions about Atalaya, or about my hikes in general, feel free to text me.

Non-aggressive, well mannered dogs are welcome on all my hikes.
We meet at the DeVargas Mall parking lot, back of lot, behind stores; please park in a lane near the bowling alley, but not right up against the mall wall. We carpool to all THs. Please offer your driver at least $7 for this hike. We leave promptly at designated time, so if you're running just a bit late, text me, as we'll wait up to 5 minutes for you if you let me know.
Please be considerate of those on the Waiting List and sign off hike as soon as you know you cannot attend, preferably at least 24 hours in advance if at all possible. PLEASE DO NOT NO SHOW! Repeated No Shows have consequences!
