Hike Description: Jan will lead this hike (I'll be there only in spirit). Picacho Peak is located 10 minutes east of the Santa Fe Plaza. We will start at the nearby Cerro Gordo trail head and follow the trail up to the top of Picacho Peak. Most of the trail proceeds thru pine and fir forest, with a small but nice gorge along the way. This is a fairly short hike, but entails 1200' of elevation gain, and the final ascent is fairly steep and rocky, with some sections of the trail having a loose, gravelly surface. We'll enjoy the great vistas at the peak and then head back as we came.

What to bring:
Sturdy hiking boots or shoes.
Layers, extra clothing, water resistant outer wear.
Water for a 3 hour hike and snacks/lunch

Meeting Place: DEVARGAS
We'll meet at DeVargas behind Market Street, but a little closer to the bowling alley. We leave promptly at the meet time.

Dogs: Friendly dogs with no history of aggression are welcome but must be on a leash at all times.

Driving/Cost: Car pooling is up to attendees. Non-drivers are to contribute $2 to the driver for gas.

Cancelling. Please be courteous and if your plans change, promptly remove yourself from the 'go' (or wait) list so others can adjust their calendars.

Waiver and Release. Participant acknowledges they have read and understood the event description. By attending, the Participant releases the Event Leaders from all liability arising from the Event and assumes all risks of the Event, including: 1) injuries from falls, living things, pre-existing health conditions, vehicles, and weather, and 2) injuries resulting from the Event Leaders making risky or inapt decisions including not undertaking the least risky option available (e.g., hiking a steep slope instead of a gentle slope) or not treating an injury in the optimal way (e.g., due to insufficient training or inept execution). The preceding sentence supplements any other applicable exculpatory arrangement.
