Let's hike the Dragon Trail in Newaygo State Park - most in the woods and some by the water.

Once you reach the zstate Park, follow the signs to the BOAT LAUNCH.

You need a state recreational pass to park legally in the parking lot.

There are quite a few hills on the trail, so I highly recommend trekking poles.

We'll go out and hike for about an hour 15 minutes, take a longer break, and then hike back. I also take "catch your breath" breaks as needed !

We hike at a moderate pace - about 2.5 mph including breaks.

I always bring water and something to snack on.

If you've never been on an organized hike before, please give us a try. Our motto is "hike your own hike", so you're welcome whatever your pace is.

As always, I recommend that you bring up the trail map on AllTrails BEFORE you get to the trailhead. You never know when you might have to make your way back to the parking lot by yourself.

IMPORTANT: It's hunting season in Michigan. Right now it's bow season. I don't hike in the woods during rifle season. I HIGHLY recommend that you wear some item of clothing that is BRIGHT ORANGE.
