We'll meet by the new restrooms at the back of the big parking lot off of Butterworth Dr. This is the trailhead for the new mountain bike course.

Let's hike the paved trails at Johnson Park. We might even go over to Millennium if we have time. We can get an idea of the new mountain bike trails that they've recently constructed here. I plan on hiking on THOSE trails in the spring when it's not so busy.

The trail is paved, but there are a couple of hills. I don't typically use trekking poles on paved/dirt trails, but feel free to bring them. That way your arms will get a better work out !

We'll go out and hike for a little over an hour, take a snack break, figure out where we are, and then hike back. We usually do about five to six miles total.

We hike at a fairly decent pace since the trail is paved - around 2.8-3 mph.

I take a water break about every 20 minutes or so. I also take "catch your breath" breaks at the top of any strenuous climbs.

I always bring water and something to snack on.

If you've never been on an organized hike before, please give us a try. Our motto is "hike your own hike", so you're welcome whatever your pace is.

As always, I recommend that you bring up the trail map on AllTrails BEFORE you get to the trailhead. You never know when you might have to make your way back to the parking lot by yourself.

I'll have a dark blue Honda Accord. Please text me at 616 446 8102 if you're running late. We can wait for you.

If you're unsure of where the meeting location is, please call/text me BEFORE the hike is scheduled to start.

See you on the trails !!
