What we're about
This is a group for people interested in hiking and skiing/snowboarding, and snowshoe hiking.
Mountains are a beautiful place to be, and to enjoy them together makes it even better!
For your comfort and safety, there are some rules:
• Please update your RSVP status, should your plans change. For an organizer it's important to know who is really joining.
• normally hikes and events will be without dogs; in case dogs are welcome, it will be explicitly written in the event description. Please contact me if you want to bring your assistance dog.
• if a payment is required, the payment method will be stated in the event description - or will be sent to you in a private message (in case of multi-day events).
• The activities in this group have a higher risk than sitting on the couch at home. Obviously this goes for sport activities such as skiing/snowboarding and mountain hiking, but it might go for things like for example hot wood stoves in the middle of a mountain hut, etc.. You are always responsible for assessing the risks yourself and you are always responsible for your own do’s and don’ts. You are yourself liable for the consequences of your own decisions. No insurance is provided on behalf of the organizer; please arrange a (travel) insurance yourself and make sure that it covers the appropriate risks (for example: are winter sports activities covered? This is not always the case).

Do you have any idea how it is to spend the night in a cabin high on the mountain, not in a village or town, in the middle of winter wonderland, no cars, no noise...?
Experience this amazing feeling as we will use our Saturday for skiing, snowboarding or other snowsports (see below) and then enjoy a majestic artisanal cheese fondue in our mountain cabin right in the middle of the ski slopes. And we'll sleep in that same cabin, so that we wake up on Sunday with an unspoiled sunrise and we'll be the first to hit the slopes again! The rest of Sunday we'll be doing our favourite snow sports :)
We will be in the Pizol ski resort at just over 1 hour from Zürich. A beautiful medium sized ski resort with lots of blues and reds, and depending on snow conditions also some nice blacks. With good weather you can see Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein and Germany in one single view!
If you're not into skiing or snowboarding: the cabin is right at a 4 kilometer long snowshoe trail that can be combined with a 3,5km long groomed hike.
We will have the cabin exclusively for our group. It has toilets and electricity. We will sleep dorm style in simple bunk beds. Dinner will consist of artisanal cheese fondue (not some sour stuff from a package) or a vegan dish if you prefer.
- The cost for this trip is CHF 129/EUR 129 per person.
- This covers Fondue (or vegan dish) on Saturday evening, the rental of our private hut, tourist taxes, breakfast on Sunday.
- I will ask you for an advance payment because I have to confirm the booking of the cabin.
- Should I cancel the event, you will get a full refund.
- Should you cancel your participation, I will give you the full refund if I find someone else to take your place.
- If you cancel your participation in the last 7 days before the event, I will deduce EUR/CHF 30 from the refund.
The skipass is CHF 104 for two days (or 97 if we are enough to buy group tickets). Gear can be rented at at sports shop at the top station of the cable car. If you want to hike: a single trip with the cable car is CHF 25.
There is also a Snow'n Rail offer (SBB); currently for example CHF 118 for two day skipass and train from/to Zürich HB.
When you set your RSVP to going, I will send you a meetup message with the payment details. So please check your Meetup messages in the 24 hour after setting your RSVP.
Alcoholic beverages and soft drinks as well as snacks and lunch are not included; please bring them yourself if you want them. Speaking about alcohol: Please understand that this is not a drinking event. It's perfectly fine to have a wine or two at dinner, but don't be drunk and don't bring any strong alcoholic drinks.
You are invited to help a bit in preparing food, doing dishes and cleaning the hut. Things that are done in 10 minutes if we do it together :)

Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and join us for an unforgettable weekend of snowshoe hiking in a secluded valley in the Bernese Oberland.
- On Saturday, we'll hike to our mountain hut, where we'll continue with a medium-length snowshoe hike through the pristine alpine landscape.
- After arriving back at our mountain hut in the late afternoon, we'll enjoy a delicious artisanal cheese fondue (vegan options available upon request) while bonding with our fellow hikers.
- We'll spend the night in a cozy dorm, surrounded by the awe-inspiring beauty of the mountains.
- On Sunday, we'll tackle a challenging snowshoe hike to the summit of a 2300-meter peak, where we'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain ranges.
