Tahquitz Peak (8846') via Devil's Slide Trail

Details
This lollipop hike is about eleven miles with about 2700 feet of gain. It will be a moderate plus hike at a moderate pace, averaging about two mph. We all need to arrive by 7:00, as the parking area fills up very quickly on Saturday mornings. You will need an Adventure Pass to park. The Idyllwild Ranger Station doesn't open until 8:00, so if you can't get a Pass before the hike, try to carpool with someone who has one. I will obtain the NF Wilderness Permit for the group. No dogs or plus ones, please. At 7:15 we will meet at the TH for a group pic and more hike details. At 7:30 we will start up Devil's Slide Trail to Saddle Junction for a short rest, then up the Tahquitz Trail to the peak for a longer rest and food. The seasonal, historic 1937 fire-lookout tower is still in use, and the views are breathtaking. Our return route to Saddle Junction will be via the beautiful, but rarely used, Tahquitz Valley and Willow Creek Trails. After a short rest at the Saddle, we will return to Humber Park via the Devil's Slide Trail. Happy Trails!
