Red Tahquitz Peak (8760') from Humber Park in Idyllwild

Details
The 360 degree views from this peak are truly breathtaking. It is rarely hiked, as the final half mile is off-trail, 600' of elevation gain, not maintained, and mostly rock near the top! If your mountain hiking fitness and risk tolerance levels are high, you will love this adventure. Otherwise, this is not the hike for you. Please factor in these considerations before signing up. At 14 miles and 3000 feet of elevation gain, this is a hard hike with a moderate pace of about two mph. It is mostly an out-n-back hike with a couple of additional miles for a great lunch stop and views. We will use the following trails: Devil's Slide, Caramba, Tahquitz Valley, PCT, Skunk Meadow, and Willow Creek. You will need an Adventure Pass to park...I will have the Wilderness hiking permit for the group. We will meet at my dark gray Toyota 4-Runner at 6:30 for introductions and more details, then start by 6:45. No dogs or plus ones, please. Be sure to read additional comments I may post before the hike. Happy Trails, Michael.
