http://photos2.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/8/8/2/c/event_20614860.jpegThis event is 'Closed' with a 'Waiting List' - We hope to have 10 to 12 on the hike. Please add your name to the Wait List and answer the three questions so we can clear you from the Wait List.

Please note - IF a BIG SNOW STORM is forecast, this event will be rescheduled. The plan is for a SUNNY, BLUE-SKY SNOWSHOE TREK to Wellman's Divide and not a gnarly, snow-blinded, freezing ascent...

Ever thought of snowshoeing in the Winter Wonderland atop Mt San Jacinto?

SJHC plans to have a series of Beginner-Intermediate Snowshoe Sundays, weather permitting. I have several extra pairs of snowshoes and trekking poles that I can lend for the event. So for those of you that enjoy summer hiking in the mountains - perhaps this will be the chance to expand to a Four Season Hiker/Mountaineer...

We plan to start with some basic snowshoe techniques [and believe me, if you can walk in a pair of swimming fins - you can snowshoe]. After a warmup, we'll head up the winter routes to Round Valley and on up to Wellman's Divide for awesome winter views - a 7 mile round-trip with an elevation gain of ~1,500'. We will stick together and keep the group small.

In future events we will expand our horizons and attempt a summit of Mt San Jacinto via the Winter Route, up the side of Miller to the Peak.

I recall my first summit [Thanks to Ellen and Lance], just as a snowstorm had ended, standing atop the summit, I felt an incredible exhilaration. Great stuff! Hope you can join us. Winter on Mt San Jacinto is an adventure worth experiencing.

If there isn't enough snow, we'll cancel and reschedule to the next Sunday with snow.
