Hocking Hills (Old Man's Caves to Twin Falls) / Schmidt's Sausage Haus

On this hike, we'll explore the Old Man's Cave to Twin Falls stretch of the Buckeye Trail, and head to Schmidt's Sausage Haus afterward to regain every calory lost. Trust me, it will be worth it!

The Old Man's Cave to Twins Falls Trail is a 10 mile route with approximately 1200 feet of elevation gain. It winds over ridgelines and snakes through gorges, passing by Devil's Bath Tub, Fat Man's Squeeze and Chapel cave before reaching Twin Falls (if these places sound to you like the setup to a "the devil, a priest, and a fat man walked into a bar" joke, then you're in the right group!).

There is very little cell service in the area. Bring boots and plenty of water!

After the hike, we'll head to Schmidt's Sausage Haus (240 East Kossuth Street, Columbus, OH 43206) in downtown Columbus. It is about an hour drive from the hike parking lot, but just hear me out! It's right on the way back (it really doesn't add any time to our return trip) and it pretty much is an icon of Columbus. Schmidt's has an all you can eat German buffet (and many other options on their normal menu), 32 oz beer steins, and some bang'n cream puffs, strudel and other tasty German desserts. What I'm really trying to say is if you have any German in your ancestry and you don't come, your family will be ashamed of you! (I tried to warn you).
