Hi fellow hikers,
at great request, we shall go back to the mighty Breakneck Ridge!
We will meet at 10:10AM by the parking lot on Route 9D and head out shortly after the train riders arrive at the parking lot. Text 631-949-3414 (Sal) or 347-276-3569 (Tano) to coordinate.
The Train from Grand Central to the Breakneck Ridge stop leaves at 8:43 am and arrives at 10:17.
Walk south east to the parking lot.

From parking lot, we will hike up on Breakneck Ridge trail to Sunset point, and continue north, then return to parking lot for a total of about 5-7 miles.

Terrain: Steep scrambling and several hills
Distance: 6.1 miles

Hiking Pace: Intermediate, ~2mph once we are done with scrambling and are on the ridge.

Public Transportation Meeting Location & Return Time:
Metro North Railroad: Take the 8:43 train from Grand Central to Breakneck Ridge, arriving 10:09 am. At the end of the day, drivers can shuttle you to Cold Spring, where trains run to NYC every hour.
Car Drivers and Riders:
People who are coming by car and are willing to give rides, please write in your RSVP from where and when you are leaving. If you'd like a ride, please contact a driver (and bring $10 to chip in for gas and tolls).
Car drivers should get to this parking lot (http://maps.google.com/maps?num=20&hl=en&safe=off&q=41.445575,+-73.979394&ie=UTF8&ll=41.445573,-73.979396&spn=0.002051,0.003787&t=k&z=18&iwloc=addr&om=1) by 10:10AM. This is the larger parking lot about 0.2mi north of the tunnel.
Day Hiking Gear: hiking boots or hiking shoes, non-cotton clothes recommended, hat (rubber shoes tolerated but discouraged!)
3 liters of water minimum (imperative!). More if you get thirsty easily or if very hot weather conditions.

The organizer will only provide a meeting place for hikers who wish to attend.
