Caples Lake

Details
Description: Caples Lake Trail is moderately trafficked, mostly flat trail located near Kirkwood that features a lake and is rated as moderate. There are several locations for the dogs to get access to the water. We will hike to about the end of the lake, have some lunch, and return. This area has leash requirements. We have hiked the trail many times off-leash with no problems. You can choose what is best for you. We hike at a leisurely pace and take time for the dogs to play, take pictures and enjoy the scenery.
Directions from Sacramento: Travel east on Highway 50, Follow US-50 E to Sly Park Rd in Pollock Pines. Take exit 60 from US-50 E. Take Mormon Emigrant Trail to CA-88 E for 30 miles. Parking is on the right just after you pass Kirkwood at the beginning of the lake.

Bring: poop bags, leash, lunch for you and your dog, water for you and your dog , hat, sun screen, bug spray.
RSVP for the number of dogs you are bringing. You and 1 dog =0, you +2 dogs = +1. If you are bringing extra people, no need to RSVP for them. Main concern is the number of dogs. If you want to bring more than 3 dogs, send a message to the hike leader.
If you need to change your RSVP, please do so as soon as possible. No shows effect the whole group so please update your RSVP if you cannot attend. If you are lost or running late, text or call Lucinda 916-307-8743. Hopefully I will have service. There is no service at the trailhead, so it's best to make any changes or leave comments the night before.
