About us
This group is all about hiking with dogs! We mostly hike in the Sacramento foothills or high sierra east of Sac. We try to find places where the dogs can be off-leash responsibly. We limit the number of dogs that are allowed to join to keep the energy levels manageable and to make it easier to be off leash. We are not a fast paced hiking group. We take our time, enjoy the view, take pictures, chat and generally have a good time!
We do not allow dogs with prong collars or shock collars to attend our hikes.
We also do not allow dogs that are unaltered. All dogs must be spayed/neutered.
All hikers must clean up after their dog, pack it in-pack it out.

Old Salmon Falls Bridge
Old Salmon Falls Assembly Area, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762, USA, El Dorado Hills, CA, USThe old bridge is exposed again due to low water conditions. There is lots of open space for the dogs to run. We will cross one creek, hike to the bridge, cross over and go west as far as we want to go then go back. There is a large sand bar there and lots of open space. It can be muddy in places so bring your hiking boots. This is a mostly off-leash hike, but there may be spots where we need to leash up if there are people/other dogs.
Note: getting up onto and over the other side of the bridge may be a little challenging, we will asses when we get there. Part of the bridge at the far end fell into the water, so will see if we can climb down. If not, we will follow the river towards the new salmon falls bridge (that you can drive over).
Directions: from 50 take El Dorado Hills Blvd east about 4 miles until it turns into to Salmon Falls Rd. (keep going straight) go 4 more miles to Old Salmon falls rd and turn left into the parking lot where there is a sign that says Falcon Crest. If you come to the bridge you can drive over, you went too far.
PARKING: The lower parking lot has a parking fee. You can park in the upper parking lot (Falcon Crest) for free and walk down to the lower parking area (its about 1/4 mile walk). If you have a state park pass or want to pay the 10$ parking fee, turn into the parking lot, then turn right and drive to the end of the road (stay to the right at the fork). It dead ends at another parking lot that requires a state pass or fee. We will meet in the lower parking lot near the yellow gate. The map in the location will take you to the lower parking lot.

We do not wait for people who are late. If you show up late, you can very likely catch up, we don't hike fast and its an open area.6 attendees
