## Details

This is a beautiful 3 1/2 mile hike pass a waterfall to beautiful Granite Lake. We will be going out and back, on the new trail only, past smaller Amy Lake. There is also the option to continue to Hidden Lake two miles further down the trail (leaders aren't continuing). The trail has some shade and some sun. Granite lake is great to swim in, if you want to take that option too.
Directions to the trail head: 50 east to Sly Park Rd. exit 60. Turn right and drive past Jenkinson's Lake and turn left on Mormon Emigrant Trail. Then drive 25 miles to Hwy 88 and turn left. Turn south off Highway 88 at the north end of Silver Lake near the spillway by the Kit Carson Lodge sign.
PLEASE PRINT AND BRING THE FOLLOWING DETAILED DIRECTIONS!:
from when you turn into the Kit Carson Lodge entrance from Hwy 88: Go just to the end of the parking lot at the entrance and turn left. (you can't see the road until you are almost there) Follow the paved road passed the lodge, campground and some cabins. It turns into a single lane road, so watch out for oncoming traffic. When you get to the tree , surrounded by road sort of like a traffic circle, turn left. At the next split, there is a sign at the top of the bank, turn right towards Granite lake. At the next split, turn right again towards the Camp Fire Girls. when you get to the giant rock slab, you are getting close. The slab was used for additional parking. At the end, the road goes uphill to the parking area. There are many places along the road if it is full. The trail head is at the bottom of the hill before the parking lot. There are several places to park at the trailhead too.
(Use caution; the road is very narrow and heavily traveled). the trailhead is about 1.4 miles from the highway. The trail head is labeled Minkalo Trail 17E72

There is a vault toilet on the right just after you pass Kit Carson Lodge. There is nothing at the trailhead.

What to bring: Hiking boots/shoes required, leash, water, hat, sunscreen, mosquito repellant, poop bags, picnic lunch for you and your dog, layered clothing, swim suit and towel (opt.).
RSVP based on the number of dogs you are bringing. If you are bringing 1 dog, RSVP for yourself/dog and 0 guests. If you have 2 dogs, RSVP is +1. The main concern on these hikes is the pack size.
If you need to change your RSVP from yes to no, please do so as soon as possible to allow others to attend (try to prevent last minute changes as that affects the whole group).
Reminders: Bring poop bags and pick up after your dog. If you let your dog off-leash you must have voice control over your dog and keep your dog in sight. Stay with the group unless otherwise arranged with the hike leader. If your dog is unfriendly to other dogs or people you will be asked to leash up. Any questions send a message to your hike leader.
